Celebrity Shoe-stopper: Britney Spears

Britney Spears made it back to the headlines and thankfully, it’s not because of another paparazzi attack or a shaving session. The release of her music video “Criminal” garnered a billion views on Vevo.  Once you catch a glimpse of the sweltering scenes of her and her real life beau who plays the lead, you wouldn’t have to ask why. The video opened with her in full glamour ensemble and one couldn’t help but wonder what’s underneath the tip of her lace dress.

Britney was never exactly the apple of the fashion industry’s eyes but in all fairness, she has made triumphs in fashion as in music. World-class labels have trusted the pop princess to front their campaigns and shoe designers, in particular, have provided something fit for royalty.

Here are some of the highlights from her extensive discography.

Dolce & Gabbana

For her latest studio album, Britney Spears asked for some high Italian fashion prowess from no less than Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The 29 year old pop star looked younger and ravishing in the promotional pictures for her Femme Fatale album.

During an interview with the Telegraph, the Italian duo blatantly professed their adoration for the pop princess, saying "She has always been among our favorite artists because she has been able to remain true to herself and to her style throughout the years.” “With her music she influenced and inspired generations of people for more than 10 years, always staying at the top, and we can't but congratulate her for this new, important achievement," they further added.

In one photo, Britney wears only a polka-dot bodysuit and black peep-toe pumps with stiletto heels while in another, she poses in a gold-colored gown and matching Dolce & cabbana platform lace-up pumps.

Christian Louboutin for “I Wanna Go”

It seems like the Spears camp has been plotting an immense comeback with a great record and highly conceptualized music videos where she’s clad in stylish pieces from head to toe.

For her third single from her seventh studio album, Britney goes glam punk in spikes, studs and safety pins. And just when you thought booties would perfectly finish off the look, Britney struts in 5-inch black stiletto pumps from Christian Loubuoutin. The classic Pigalle pumps get a rock ‘n’ roll makeover with spiked stud embellishment from quarter to toe cap.

Christian Louboutin and Guiseppe Zanotti for “If You Seek Amy”

You can tell how attractive a pair of shoes is when it’s flashed on the screen for a few seconds and has everyone talking about it more than the video itself. As controversial as the song title was, the orange platform pumps called Dillian Flower Pumps were choice topics in many forums following the release of “If You Seek Amy” on the boob tube.

Featuring huge attractive ruffles and four buckle straps, these Christian Louboutin shoes are part of the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2009 collection. Britney showed more than talent as she danced in these 4.5 inch heels. If you’re not a fan of citrus colors, you can opt for the Dillian pumps in silver/bronze metallic colors or natural python.

Another powerful label showcased in the music video was Guiseppe Zanotti shoes. Towards the end of the video, Britney shifted from a vixen to a 1950s housewife aptly dressed in preppy clothing and tamer footwear. She wore white peep-toe heels made of patent upper leather and cork platform.

Manolo Blahnik for “Womanizer”

For a music video that opens and intermittently flashes a damp & naked Britney Spears, all other details would seem forgettable, save for that one particular pair of shoes given much spotlight on a steering wheel. Manolo Blahnik shoes take credit for the Breda patent peep-toe shoes which feature lace-up ankle cuffs and purple rhinestone heels. Brittany Spears Wears Manolo Blahnik Breda Shoes
