The Animal Instinct: Christian Louboutin’s Fall 2011 Collection

Animal rights activists have waged war against the use of animal fur and leather in the clothing trade since time immemorial. Committed to their advocacy, they have attacked even the biggest celebrities who defy their campaign upfront. Back in 2008, Lindsay Lohan was tossed with a flour bomb on her way to a party for wearing fur stole. PETA has long plotted against Victoria Beckham for her line of crocodile, lizard, and calf leather skin handbags.

Even Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Madame Anna Wintour, wasn’t spared and was slammed with pies after attending glamorous fashion shows in Europe. But despite this onslaught, celebrities and those who can afford such glamour aren’t shuddered and continue to patronize these products. After all, nothing beats that unmitigated feeling of luxury when you wear authentic leather and fur. Animal prints are also to die for. French shoe connoisseur Christian Louboutin understands that perfectly, as evident in his Fall 2011 collection.

The blend of patent leather and leopard print on pony hair is just seamless in this loafer-style platform pump. This pair is perfect for a sharp corporate look or even a casual jean outfit.

Another leopard print pump in the collection is the Metalipp which, as apparent in the name, features a metal cap toe and heel.

Tootsie Booty

Mixing a variety of elements, the Tootsie Booty would at one glance give that flashy look. This laser-cut booty has a round snakeskin toe, lace patter cut out upper leather and stud and fur embellishments. You can choose between the black or white edition.

Lady Fur

This peep-toe slingback literally has a ‘rear appeal’ as it showcases lux fur right on the heels. The plain black patent design comes with a striking red fur while that of the textured leather edition is black. A brown suede edition is also available. With a 6-inch heel height, your fur cannot go unnoticed.

Splash Fur

This is indeed a furry collection as another shoe design came with a fur accent. The Splash Fur is a platform slingback which is made of suede upper leather. Like its sister shoe, it also has a whopping 6-inch heel. There are 4 color schemes to choose from.

No other shoe looks quite as fierce as this. The boots are covered in beige-colored pony hair from ankle to toe. If you want to forever be etched in the memory of a party crowd, step into a pair of Puck boots!

Albeit its ironically tame name, the Alex is beastly in its own right. While we have witnessed how animal prints and skins have taken the fashion world by storm, this design certainly reigns supreme. The toe is uniquely shaped into a lion’s paw. That’s a style of designer shoes you don’t see everyday!
